Mattie Robertson receives White Coat, enters Drake's Professional Pharmacy Program

Mattie Robertson of Dallas City, IL, recently was honored during the 2009 Doctor of Pharmacy White Coat Ceremony for students entering the first professional year in the Doctor of Pharmacy program at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Robertson has successfully completed two years of pre-pharmacy studies before being accepted into the four-year professional pharmacy program.

Raylene Rospond, dean of Drake's College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, welcomed the students to the professional program. The students then were cloaked with white coats and recited the Pledge of Professionalism. A reception for students and their families followed the ceremony.

Graduates of Drake's Doctor of Pharmacy program work in community-based retail practice, clinic and specialty practices, hospitals and long-term care practices. A significant portion of graduates continue to post-graduate education and training opportunities such as law school, medical school, graduate school and residency and fellowship training.
